The fall of an international drug network that runs its operations from the heart of Matn and targets entertainment areas

The Mount Lebanon Investigation Detachment arrested three people in the Talaat al-Fanar area, opposite the Imam Ali Mosque, and seized large quantities of drugs hidden in a basement under the house of one of the detainees, who owns a commercial store and Express Coffee in the area.

The operation was carried out yesterday evening at 9:30 on the recommendation of the Public Prosecutor of Appeal in Mount Lebanon, Judge Sami Sader, and after monitoring and surveillance work supervised by the commander of the detachment, Major Hussein Damascus, until the presence of the suspects was confirmed inside the site.

Immediately after the execution signal was issued, the patrol imposed a security cordon around the place and conducted searches that included the shop, the basement, and the house, which resulted in the arrest of: (A.Z.), (H.A.), and (A.Q.). They also seized a wide variety of narcotic substances intended for promotion and trafficking, including cocaine, heroin, ketamine, hashish, and marijuana, in addition to LSD pills and hallucinogenic pills.

Initial investigations showed that the group used the site as a major center for distributing drugs in a range extending from Al-Fanar to Ain Saadeh, passing through Al-Hikma Street and reaching the amusement park, in addition to parts of the Al-Jadidah area, which are densely populated residential areas that include schools, universities, and popular neighborhoods.

The detainees were taken to the detachment’s headquarters to begin investigations under the supervision of the competent judiciary, which will focus on uncovering the sources of drug supply and the entities associated with the group, and determining whether they are active within a broader network in Lebanon and abroad.

This operation comes in the context of ongoing efforts to pursue drug traffickers and dealers, noting that Lebanese laws provide severe penalties for those involved in trafficking and drug trafficking crimes, up to and including hard labor.
