Oil prices recorded a rise at the settlement of trading on Friday, driven by the movement of Hurricane “Isaias” towards the northern Gulf of Mexico, which prompted producing companies to suspend more than 70% of crude production in US territorial waters.
This rise was supported by concerns about supplies, despite the decline that prices witnessed earlier in the session. The temporary decline occurred following statements by US President Donald Trump in which he described the talks aimed at ending tension with Iran as “fruitful,” in addition to his allusion to an upcoming announcement regarding diesel fuel and his consideration of suspending the federal tax on gasoline.
At the end of the session, Brent crude futures rose by 44 cents, or 0.42%, to settle at $104.72 per barrel. In turn, US West Texas Intermediate crude contracts rose by 36 cents, or 0.39%, to record $91.85 per barrel.
