Tomorrow, Tuesday, a high-level Syrian government delegation will pay a visit to Lebanon, the largest of its kind since the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, with the aim of holding expanded discussions that include joint economic, service, and investment files.
According to private sources on the “Syria TV” website, the delegation includes six ministers: Minister of Economy and Industry Muhammad Nidal al-Shaar, Minister of Agriculture Basil Hafez al-Suwaidan, Minister of Tourism Mazen al-Salhani, Minister of Education Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Turko, Minister of Transport Ya’rab Suleiman Badr, and Minister of Health Musab al-Ali.
The delegation also includes the head of the Civil Aviation Authority, the head of the Syrian Investment Authority, Ahmed Rawad Ramadan, and the CEO of the Syrian Petroleum Company, Youssef Qiblawi, along with a number of officials and representatives of Syrian government agencies.
The delegation is scheduled to hold expanded meetings headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon, Tareq Mitri, and in the presence of relevant Lebanese ministers and officials, including direct sectoral meetings between Syrian ministers and their Lebanese counterparts.
The discussions will discuss issues of economics, trade, investment, energy, oil and gas, in addition to transportation, aviation, agriculture, health, education, and tourism. It also addresses mechanisms for activating direct cooperation between ministries and official institutions in the two countries and addressing a number of outstanding joint files.
The visit program includes high-level political meetings; The Syrian delegation is scheduled to meet with the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri.
Next Wednesday, the delegation will participate in the Lebanese-Syrian Business Forum in the presence of officials, businessmen and representatives of the private sector in the two countries, to discuss investment and trade opportunities and ways to expand partnerships between the two private sectors.
This visit comes in light of the rapid steps witnessed by official relations between Damascus and Beirut towards expanding institutional communication, following a series of bilateral meetings, agreements and discussions that took place during the year 2026 and included political, economic, judicial and transport files, in light of an existing trend to open direct paths of cooperation between governmental institutions in the two countries.
