The head of the Lebanese Phalange Party, MP Sami Gemayel, stressed that building the desired Lebanon begins with restoring sovereignty and national decision-making and laying the foundations of a strong and capable state, stressing the need for the state to bear its responsibilities firmly and without hesitation, amid a popular rally to support the path of restoring sovereignty and freedom.
In a speech he delivered during a celebration honoring the fifty-year-olds of the Batroun Phalange region, Gemayel described the 当前 stage as a “turning point” in the country’s history, calling for getting rid of what he described as “the era of Iranian tutelage,” which he accused of implicating the Lebanese in wars that did not concern them and exploiting them to serve the agenda of the Iranian regime.
He considered that this stage represents an inexorable historical opportunity, available thanks to the presence of a President of the Republic and a Prime Minister who adopt a clear sovereign position, in addition to the Lebanese consensus on the concept of sovereignty, warning that missing this opportunity will inflict heavy costs on Lebanon.
Gemayel stressed his categorical refusal to go back, saying: “We will not accept that Lebanon returns under guardianship or that we live and coexist with weapons. Our country will not be stable, our economy will not grow, and immigration will not stop under weapons,” adding: “No one thinks that we are ready to accept a return to a reality in which weapons can drag us into a new war after two, five, ten, or twenty years.”
Gemayel concluded by emphasizing that addressing the issue of illegal weapons represents a fateful choice, calling on everyone to assume their responsibilities, stressing that the solution will not be achieved automatically, but rather by joining efforts to establish the state’s full role in accordance with the constitution.
