The sources explained that increasing salaries would contribute to stimulating economic activity and raising the purchasing power, as much as possible, of large segments of employees, especially since the rise in prices during the last period was more severe than the increases they received.
On the other hand, the sources expressed their hope that the salary increase would not turn into an excuse to raise prices again, stressing the need to strengthen oversight by the relevant ministries over stores, institutions and merchants.
She stressed that any improvement in salaries must not be accompanied by an increase in the prices of various goods and materials, in order to ensure that employees actually benefit from the increase and preserve their purchasing power.
