After a 4-year hiatus.. Khartoum Airport receives the first export shipment

Khartoum International Airport in Sudan has returned to the forefront of commercial activity again with the launch of the first export shipment through the airport in a step that represents the beginning of the resumption of the movement of exports and imports after a hiatus that lasted for about four years due to the war.

Khartoum International Airport Customs announced the completion of the technical and administrative preparations necessary for the return of incoming and outgoing traffic, confirming the airport’s readiness to deal with commercial operations according to the arrangements that were completed during the last period.

The Sudan Airports Company confirmed the readiness of Khartoum Airport to receive various types of shipments, including agricultural products, meat and goods, in a way that supports restoring its role in the movement of trade and air transport, according to the Sudanese “Al-Mashhad” website.

The return of export operations through the airport reflects the increasing importance of the aviation sector in supporting foreign trade movement, especially as the country prepares to reactivate channels for exporting local products and accessing them to foreign markets.

The Customs Department considered the launch of the first export shipment an actual step towards restoring commercial activity through Khartoum Airport, noting that the resumption of commercial movement could contribute to supporting production and export and moving the economy during the recovery phase.

The return of the airport to commercial activity also comes in the context of efforts aimed at rehabilitating vital sectors in Sudan, enhancing trade movement and benefiting from local resources and products, in conjunction with reconstruction efforts.
