We started implementing the terms of the election map

The special envoy of the Secretary -General of the United Nations to Libya, Hannah Tité, confirmed that the UN mission has already begun implementing the terms of the international map for the elections.

She explained that her deputy Stephanie Khoury held a meeting with the President of the Supreme Council of State to discuss the issue of appointing additional members in the Supreme National Electoral Commission, as a basic step that falls within the powers of the Council. Tité also added that the mission also made contacts with the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives regarding the proposed legislative reforms, as well as its communication with members of the Supreme Council of the State to pay the “6+6” committee to resume its work.
She stressed the importance of continuing cooperation with the House of Representatives and the state in order to accelerate the consensus on these files.
As for the security situation in the capital, Tripoli, Tité expressed its deep concern about the recent tensions, confirming the full support of the mission of the efforts of the Presidential Council through the Security Arrangements Committee that works to reach understandings between the government of national unity and the deterrent apparatus to prevent the outbreak of any armed confrontations. The negotiations have confirmed that any slipping into an armed conflict in Tripoli will be “catastrophic”, and that the mission will continue to provide its technical expertise to support calm efforts.
