Warning for Android phones around the world!

Google has issued an urgent warning to Android phones around the world from connecting to fake networks, after discovering new methods used by hackers to exploit phones and steal data.

The attacks depend on small devices known as SMS Blasters, capable of sending signals that delusion of the phone as a reliable network, which leads to the reception of malware that exploits the system gaps or communication applications to access personal information or control the function of the phone.

Google stressed that these attacks do not require fixing harmful applications or granting unusual powers, which makes their discovery very difficult.

Protection Tips:

  • Avoid connecting to any unknown or open network.
  • Disable automatic communication with public networks.
  • Activating security updates periodically.
  • Activating the advanced protection mode that restricts the connection to suspicious networks and prevents the installation of applications from outside the Google Play Store, which is currently available to some devices and will be expanded gradually.
