Saudi Arabia announced its welcome of the agreement reached regarding stopping the war in the Gaza Strip and beginning the implementation of the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s proposal aimed at calming the situation and creating the atmosphere towards a comprehensive and just peace path.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out, in a statement, the Kingdom’s appreciation for the active role played by the US President, and the efforts made by Qatar, Egypt and Turkey to reach this agreement, praising the mediation efforts that contributed to achieving this important step towards ending the war.
Saudi Arabia stressed that this step represents the beginning of a process towards alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in preparation for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, and the restoration of security and stability in the region, calling for proceeding with successive steps to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
She explained that her vision stems from the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant United Nations resolutions, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. It affirmed its support for all international efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful solution to the Palestinian issue and implementing the two-state solution.
