The Parliamentary Human Rights Committee raises the alarm: Lebanese prisons are tragic

The Human Rights Committee held a session before noon today in the Parliament headed by Representative Michel Moussa, and the presence of members and representatives of the competent departments.
Moussa said after the session: “We followed the issue of prisons and we have been talking about these issues for a long time, so the prisons placed a miserable as a result of overcrowding and not raising interest in prisons to the required level.” He stressed that this file requires a clear government plan within a general methodology to improve prisons, stressing: “It is a human being required as a result of errors and sins that they committed, but it is also related to how Lebanon is dealing with human rights issues and the rights of prisoners.” He added: “Today we are facing chronic basic demands, but progress is slow. The cabinet is required to raise this file to the level of priorities, because it is related to several ministries concerned with building prisons By accelerating the trials and issuing rulings. He said: “We ask the government to hold multiple meetings to consider the prison conditions, especially with the approaching discussion of the budget, as the building of prisons and its rehabilitation requires financial credits.”
