The internet divided between the neighbors: a cable links .. and separates

In Lebanon, the high prices are long, and the Internet is one of the things, even if it is previously considered luxuries, but today it has become a necessity. Many families and individuals resorted to alternative solutions to reduce cost, most notably the sharing of the participation between the neighbors by extending one cable to more than one house.
This habit, which started as a temporary option, has today turned into a wide phenomenon, carrying a mixture of savings, differences, and sometimes friendships. For many, the Internet sharing means a lighter bill, especially since prices weigh the families. In many buildings, the population agrees to participate in one line and divide the cost, so the elongated cable is transformed from one balcony to another to a daily cooperation code. Some neighbors find in this step a way to build stronger relationships, as they are forced to communicate periodically about payment or repair of faults. But the other side of the story is not always this friendliness. As the cable quickly turns into a cause of stress: service interruption may generate mutual accusations, and excessive loading raises complaints of slow speed. In some cases, the differences have reached the point of intentionally cutting the cable or refraining from paying. However, this phenomenon remains a reflection of the difficult living reality, as the Lebanese find collective solutions to overcome the burdens of life. Technical experts point out that the division of the subscription may actually reduce the cost, but it exposes the network to technical problems and reduces the quality of the service, especially with the increase in the number of users. In the end, the “divided internet” remains a Lebanese story with distinction: a story about solidarity in the face of high costs, and the small differences generated from daily details. Among those who consider the cable a bridge of communication and those who see the cause of a conflict, the Internet remains a witness to a common life, trying to find its balance between need and harmony.
