The head of the Zgharta Municipalities Union met a delegation from UNESCO

The head of the Zgharta Municipalities Union, Eng. Bassam Heikal, received an international expert mission from UNESCO at the Federation’s headquarters, at the request of the Ministry of Culture – the General Directorate of Antiquities, to discuss ways to provide technical and strategic support to preserve the valley of the iris and manage it in a sustainable manner.
An existing efforts were presented to secure the protection of the valley and evaluate its current situation, while discussing the challenges facing the preservation of its unique characteristics and distinctive value.
