The electricity sector reform at the heart of the discussion



The Minister of Energy and Water Joe El Saddi held an open dialogue with a number of international organizations concerned with part of its tasks in the energy sector, namely: World Bank WB, United Nations Development Program UNDP, United Nations Human Settlements Program UN-Habitat, European Union EU, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development EBRD, Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development AFESD, French Development Agency AFD, Japanese International Cooperation Agency JICA, Mediterranean Mediterranean Center, and in the presence of members of the Electricity Sector Authority.

The meeting was opened with a welcome speech to the director of the World Bank Group Office in Lebanon Enrique Blanco whispering. Then Al -Saddi presented a presentation of the reality of the electricity sector in Lebanon and the solutions it works on and obstacles. It also dealt with the extent of Lebanon’s ability to benefit from clean energy. Likewise, it stopped when the formation of the electricity sector and the roles placed on it. After that, an open dialogue house with attendance and focuses on Lebanon’s ability to benefit from their expertise and programs On several ascending. The participants also praised the formation of the organized body as a reform step and an urgent need to revive the sector and its regularity with transparency. ”In conclusion, it was decided to hold this meeting periodically twice a year and set a coordination mechanism between the Ministry of Energy and Water and Societies (National Agency).
