Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Mitri discussed with a Syrian official delegation joint issues and ways to address them in order to enhance confidence, mutual respect and sincere desire to cooperate between the two countries.
The meeting touched on the issues of the Syrian detainees and the missing in Lebanon and the German missing persons in Syria, and to cooperate in controlling borders and preventing smuggling. The issue of the displaced Syrians also discussed, their return to their country and the importance of facilitating it.
It was agreed to review and improve Lebanese -Syrian agreements and consider the agreements and measures that stimulate economic cooperation between the two countries.
It was decided to form two specialized committees to prepare the preparatory texts for a judicial agreement and another related to the borders in preparation for a Syrian ministerial visit to Beirut soon.
The delegation included the former minister and director of Arab Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Taha Al -Ahmad, former Minister Muhammad Yaqoub Al -Omar, official of the consular administration, and Mr. Muhammad Reda Munther Jalakhi, Chairman of the National Authority for Missing and forcibly disappeared.
