The Arab -Islamic Committee regrets the rejection of the visas of the Palestinian delegation: a decision that contradicts the headquarters agreement

The Arab Islamic Ministerial Committee concerned with Gaza expressed its deep regret for the US State Department’s decision not to grant visas to the delegation of the State of Palestine participating in the work of the United Nations General Assembly, considering that the move “contradicts international law and the headquarters agreement” that obliges the host state to facilitate the participation of members and observers.

The committee included the foreign ministers of Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria and Palestine, in addition to the Secretary -General of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The committee called on Washington to reconsider and retract the decision, stressing the need to respect international obligations, allow dialogue and diplomacy, and to build on the positive positions of the Palestinian National Authority and its commitment to the peace choice.
