Support of salaries in Syria … a Gulf grant to enhance financial stability



Syrian Finance Minister Mohamed Yusr Burniyah confirmed that the grant from Saudi Arabia and Qatar to support the budget of the Syrian state will be directed mainly to support the wage and salary item in the social sectors.


The Syrian Minister of Finance expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar, in appreciation of the joint generous grant offered by the two brotherly countries to support the bill of wages and salaries in Syria.
The value of the grant amounted to 29 million dollars per month, for a period of three months, in a move that would support the stability of the Syrian public sector.
“This initiative comes in line with the efforts of the Syrian government aimed at strengthening the path of financial and economic reforms and consolidating the comprehensive economic and social stability and recovery, which serves the interest of the Syrian people and enhances its ability to face the current challenges.”
“We look forward to more cooperation in the coming days with the Qatar Fund for Development and the Saudi Fund for Development, to contribute to financing development projects in Syria,” Barniyeh added.
The Saudi -Qatari initiative was signed by the Qatar Fund for Development and the Saudi Fund for Development on the one hand, with the United Nations Development Program on the other hand, to provide a grant that supports the state budget, at the headquarters of the United Nations Development Program in New York, in the presence of the Syrian Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Qabbat, on the sidelines of the work of the eighties of the United Nations General Assembly.
