Snow storm “Adam”… What Awaits You Is Even More Harsh: Prepare Well!

The polar depression “Adam” is still affecting Lebanon, as the changeable and very cold weather will continue until tomorrow, Tuesday, before gradually turning into stable weather with a gradual rise in temperatures.

In this context, the weather specialist, Father Elie Khneisser, confirmed in an interview with “Lebanon Debate” that he had previously warned yesterday, Sunday, of a “snow tsunami”, known in weather language as “Heavy Snow”.

“This is what actually happened, as temperatures dropped and we started to witness snowfall starting from Tripoli – Abi Samra and the surrounding coastal areas. Also, the humidity coming from the jet stream started to become active around 9 pm yesterday. Despite some doubts about this humidity reaching Lebanon, I insisted on it, because scientific data clearly indicated that the jet stream would significantly increase snowfall, which led to a scene resembling a “snow tsunami” in the mountainous areas,” he added.

He pointed out that “the snow touched the coast today, and covered the shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa with a white layer, before extending towards the Bekaa regions,” noting “the noticeable drop in temperatures on the coast, which the Lebanese clearly felt.”

Regarding his expectations for the coming hours, Khneisser confirmed that “the snow will begin to gradually recede starting Monday afternoon, but if wet masses remain over Lebanon, we may witness some scattered snowfall.”

He stressed that “the period extending from the morning hours until three in the afternoon will witness heavy snowfall in some areas, with an additional drop in temperatures.”

He continued: “After the depression recedes and the humidity decreases during the evening hours, we will be facing a severe cold wave, as temperatures are expected to reach only one degree in the central coastal areas, while they will range between zero and one degree in the northern regions.”

He added: “As for the mountainous areas at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level, temperatures will range between 3 and 4 degrees below zero, while at an altitude of 1,200 meters they will reach between 8 and 9 degrees below zero, while the Bekaa regions will record temperatures ranging between 5 and 10 degrees below zero.”

Khneisser concluded by saying: “Lebanon is experiencing the peak of coldness today, and it is expected that we will witness an additional drop in temperatures on Monday-Tuesday night. As for Wednesday, we will remain under the influence of the polar mass, but temperatures will rise by an average of two degrees, and the depression will recede completely between Friday and Saturday.”
