Protests in an Iranian city after news that students were harassed by Iraqis


A number of students and families in the city of Hamadan, western Iran, organized today, Tuesday, a protest gathering in front of the Bouali Sina University building, after the spread of reports on social networks, claiming that a number of Iranian students were subjected to harassment by some Iraqi students.

This issue was accompanied by a wave of anti -Arab and Iraqi interactions and feelings in cyberspace.

Local sources said that the protesters in front of Bouali Sina University in Hamadan raised slogans denouncing what they described as “the failure of university officials” and demanded immediate intervention to investigate allegations about harassing some Iranian students by Iraqi students.

A number of participants also called for the expulsion of Iraqi students who were involved in the incident.

The case started when pictures and messages spread on the networks that a group of Iraqi students in the university housing acted in an inappropriate manner towards some Iranian students, and the university or any official authority has yet confirmed the validity of these allegations or the details of the incident.
