The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Youssef Raji, participated in the work of the 164th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States in Cairo, and delivered the word Lebanon and touched on the government’s decision, which he described as “historical” to limit the weapon outside the framework of legitimacy and the launch of the path of handing over the Palestinian weapon to the Lebanese authorities, in parallel with the preparation for the withdrawal of the weapons of the rest of the armed groups. Raji stressed that “these steps aim to extend the authority of the state and its full sovereignty over all Lebanese lands, which are sovereign decisions that categorically reject Lebanon any external interventions in this regard, and rely heavily on the support of the Arab brothers to it.”

Minister Raji talked about the reform path that the government and the House of Representatives launched at various levels, and expressed Lebanon’s aspiration for the return of the Arab brothers to invest in its rabies and play a basic role in its economy within the framework of Arab economic integration and the real partnership, appreciating their permanent solidarity with Lebanon and their continuous support to it. It touched on Israel’s continued attacks and daily violations of the Security Council Resolution No. 1701, and to declare the endowment of hostilities (27 November 2024), despite all the steps taken by Lebanon in terms of the deployment of the Lebanese army in the entire south and withdrawing illegal weapons in it. He renewed the call of the international community to pressure Israel to stop its attacks and permit Lebanese sovereignty and compel it to withdraw immediate, complete and unconditional from all the Lebanese territories that occupy it, and to return to adhere to the levels of the armistice agreement signed between them and Lebanon in 1949 under the supervision of the United Nations. He reiterated the Arab brothers to support the Lebanese army, to enable it to implement the government’s decision to limit weapons in the hands of the state. Please confirm the Lebanese state’s readiness to cooperate and coordinate with the Syrian state in order to resolve all thorny issues and outstanding files for decades between the two countries, especially the file of identifying, demarcating and stabilizing the borders and combating smuggling and the issue of the Lebanese missing persons in the prisons of the former Syrian regime, in addition to another humanitarian issue that is no less important and it is the issue of the displaced The Syrians are renewed Lebanon’s support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of its independent state and its right to self -determination, and the right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homes in light of Lebanon’s adherence to refusing to settle them on its lands. He stressed the rejection of any attempt to liquidate the Palestinian issue because it will not bring any stability to the region, but rather will make matters more complicated and congestion.
The Council of the League of Arab States adopted in its closing statement the solidarity clause with Lebanon, stressing its support for the government’s decision to limit weapons in the hands of the army and legitimate security forces over the entire Lebanese territories, and rejecting any external interference in this sovereign. He also welcomed the launch of the path of handing over the Palestinian weapon, and called for its completion with Arab support.
