Our embassy in Cairo continues to work despite the closure of its main building

A spokesman for the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development confirmed that the UK Embassy in Cairo is still continuing its work and providing consular assistance to British citizens, despite the temporary closure of its main building after the Egyptian authorities removed the security barriers surrounding it.

The Egyptian authorities recently removed the concrete and iron barriers that were placed since 2014 in front of the embassy headquarters in the Garden City neighborhood, which was hindering the movement in the region. The step came after demands from Egyptian parties and personalities to remove them, considering that it turned the place into a “closed area” in the center of the capital.
