On Wednesday morning, on social media, a shocking and disgusting video showing a mouse inside a bag of “Shamsin” bread, which caused a widespread shock among citizens, between those who considered it a documented scandal that calls for accountability, and who was quick to question his health, claiming that he is fabricated or old.

Despite the enormity of what was revealed by the clip – which directly affects the health and safety of the Lebanese – the concerned authorities, specifically the “Shamsin” ovens, have entered into a cycle of silence, conflict and denial, instead of rushing to clarify the facts and hold the officials accountable.

Conflicting novels … and confusion within the administration

“Libyan Deepite”, and before publishing the video, sought to verify its health, history and place of filming, so he started communicating with the “Shamsin” ovens administration through more than 12 calls. However, what we faced was great confusion, and a flagrant contradiction in the novels.

One of the employees said that the video is old and dates back to 6 or 7 years, and that the company followed his photographer legally at the time, adding with confidence: “They missed a cook at any time, without what we know, and you see that the Dabbana is unable to miss!”

He also indicated that the company changed the design of bread bags for years, considering that this is conclusive evidence that the video is not recent.

But what seemed suspicious is that one of the people near the speaker told him during the call: “Bravo on you”, which raised doubts about the possibility of receiving answers, although it is not possible to assert whether the phrase is directly directed to him or that it was coded during the call.

A lawyer rejects the statement … and a novel blows up everything that has been said

Despite the ongoing attempts, we did not get any official clarification from the lawyer, “M. Al -Khatib”, who is entrusted with the administration of “Shamsin”, who refused to declare the statement via “Libanon Debayette”, on the pretext that the issue is “an internal affair”, contenting with saying: “Any action that we will take you will learn later.”

This position increased doubts: If the video was really old, why is this not said clearly? Why does the lawyer refrain from providing a public opinion clarification in a case that affects food safety?

The most dangerous, another employee blown up all the previous accounts, and confirmed that the video is modern, but it was filmed “inside one of the supermarkets and not in any branch belonging to the ovens of Shamsin,” noting that the lawyer is following the case.

The health of the Lebanese is a red line … Where is the Ministry of Economy?

Between a novel that claims that the video is old, another modern, and a third attributes it to an unknown location … the truth is lost. However, what cannot be tolerated is the scene of the mouse inside a baking tie, and in itself it is sufficient to mobilize the Ministry of Economy and the supervisory bodies immediately, in order to detect the source of the defect and inspect all the ovens and stores that sell food.

The scandal – whether it is fabricated or real – opened the door to many questions:

What is the extent of the ovens of public safety conditions?

Where is censorship?

And if the video was really fabricated, why did the concerned authorities not move to reveal its falsehood and reassure people?

“Libyan Deepite”, based on its media responsibility, publishes the video as it was reported, accompanied by all the accounts that it was able to collect, stressing that the health of the Lebanese is a red line that cannot be tampered with, and that the official authorities must move immediately to reveal the truth and hold the limiters accountable.
