The first thing that might come to your mind when you read the title is the name “Shakira” and “Salma Hayek,” but the purpose of this article is to highlight some Lebanese personalities who were raised and grew up in Lebanon and reached the world because of their art and creativity. Their starting point was this small country that brought them to the world of international stars.

1. Amin Maalouf

A Lebanese writer and journalist, born in Beirut in 1949, currently living in France. He has many publications, books and novels on history, poetic theatre and politics, the most important of which is the novel “The Rock of Tanios”. He gained his great fame from his novels, some of which were translated into 40 languages, and from his membership in the French Language Academy.

2. Nadine Labaki

A Lebanese director and actress who reached international fame through her films that achieved great success. Nadine Labaki began her creative career by directing video clips, the first of which were clips for Pascal Machaalani, Katia Harb, and Nancy Ajram, the most important of which was the video clip “Akhasmak Ah” which achieved record success. In 2004, she attended the Cannes International Film Festival because of the famous film that achieved worldwide success “Caramel”. Nadine Labaki’s first acting participation in her artistic career was in the film “El Bosta”.

3. Nicolas Mouawad

Lebanese actor, presenter and director, graduated from the Lebanese University, Department of Engineering. He participated in many TV series, plays and films. He had an experience in presenting programs through the youth program “Rotana Cafe” on Rotana and the program “By Numbers” on MTV. Thanks to his talent, he deserved to be chosen among 1700 participants to participate in the international Hollywood movie “His Only Son”.

A Lebanese international dance troupe founded in 2013 led by maestro Nadim Cherfan. Its first steps towards fame were in 2019 when Mayyas won first place on Arabs Got Talent and last week won first place on America’s Got Talent. Elie Saab is one of the pioneers of fashion design in the world. From his early beginnings, he had always dreamed of making Beirut the capital of fashion. He succeeded in achieving his dream, paving the way for many Lebanese designers to reach the world. He began his career by designing haute couture dresses for high-society women in Lebanon. In 1997, he was the first non-Italian designer to join the National Chamber of Italian Fashion, when he showed his first collection outside Lebanon in Rome, which was the first spark for his strong launch towards the world.

6. Georgina Rizk

The most famous beauty queen in the history of Lebanon, she was crowned Miss Lebanon in 1970 and Miss Universe in 1971. Winning the title of international beauty opened her up to international stardom that went beyond Lebanon and reached the Arab world and the rest of the world. Georgina Rizk started acting in Egypt, which was a pioneer in the region, as she participated with Sabah and Omar Khorshid in the movie “Guitar of Love”, and played the lead role in “The Queen and I” with Moharam Fouad and Wahid Seif, and “Bye Bye, Sweetheart” with Rushdi Abaza, and also played the lead role in the play “Senkaf Sankaf” by Romeo Lahoud, and the series “You Are Me” with Fahd Ballan.
