Lebanon shines in Canada: Aries rescue robot receives the Excellence Award

The Lebanese National Science and Research Authority participated in the tenth session of the International Exhibition of Inventions and Innovations in Canada (ICAN – 10th Edition 2025), where the Lebanese inventor Abbas Abdel Karim Diab won the Excellence Award (gold medal) for his creation of the pioneer ARIES – the self -exploration, intervention and rescue system.
The ARIES system aims to support civil defense and rescue teams in dangerous environments and natural disasters, by combining artificial intelligence techniques, advanced robots, smart sensing and immediate communication, which makes it an advanced technical platform capable of interfering in the most difficult conditions for saving lives and protecting field teams. A statement of the National Authority for Science and Research indicated that this achievement represents a qualitative addition For the Lebanese innovation process at the global level, stressing Lebanon’s ability to provide innovative solutions with a practical impact on the level of security and safety. The President of the Commission Radwan Shuaib pointed out that “this participation comes within the strategy of the continuous authority to support Lebanese innovators and enable them to enter the world of investment and leadership, locally and globally.” In turn, Abbas Diab expressed his thanks to the National Authority for Science and Research and the Syndicate of Education Technology headed by the Captain Rabie Baalbaki on their continuous support, stressing that this achievement represents a message of hope for the ability of Lebanese youth to global competition and raise the name of Lebanon in the innovation arenas.
