In Washington… Al-Bustani defends the rights of depositors

The Chairman of the Economy, Industry and Trade Committee, Representative Farid Al-Bustani, participated in the semi-annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank held in Washington, where he defended the rights of Lebanese depositors in the face of the financial crisis.

Al-Bustani stressed the need not to hold depositors responsible for the crisis. He also emphasized respect for the principle of the hierarchy of bearing financial losses, so that banks, the Central Bank, and the Lebanese state bear full responsibility for the crisis. He also stressed the return of money to innocent depositors who have nothing to do with financial imbalances.
