The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, left the Qatari capital, Doha, returning to Beirut after the end of the Arab Islamic Summit, which was held to discuss the Israeli attack on Qatar. On the sidelines of the conference, President Aoun had a series of meetings with a number of leaders and heads of delegations participating in the presence of members of the Lebanese delegation: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Youssef Raji, Lebanon’s Ambassador to Qatar, Mrs. Farah Berri, the permanent delegate of Lebanon to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Ali Al -Halabi, the Special Adviser to the President of the Republic, Brigadier Andre Rahal, the Director General of the ceremonies and public relations in the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Nabil Shadil, and the director of the media.
The Jordanian monarch
In this course, the President of the Republic met the Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II bin Al -Hussein, in the presence of Minister Raji, members of the Lebanese delegation, and the Jordanian delegation. During the meeting, President Aoun thanked the Jordanian monarch for the support that his country provided to the Lebanese army, while the Jordanian king expressed preparation to provide more mechanisms that help the army to carry out the tasks assigned to it. President Aoun also met with Syrian President Ahmed Al -Shara, in the presence of Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al -Shaibani, Minister Raji and members of the Lebanese delegation, and presented relations between the two countries and ways to develop them, and the need to coordinate in a way that ensures the preservation of stability along the border. The research also touched on the importance of cooperation in the interest of the two countries, especially the demarcation of the maritime borders, and the file of the displaced Syrians, as the Sharia president expressed his satisfaction to start groups of the displaced people to the Syrian territories. The research also dealt with the necessity of coordination, regarding the points that were raised between the Lebanese and Syrian delegations during the talks in Beirut in the file of the detainees, and to emphasize the importance of judicial cooperation between the two countries to decide on this file, according to the laws in force.
It was also agreed to communicate between the foreign ministers, the formation of specialized committees, including an economic and security committee, and work to enhance efforts to provide stability between the two countries, and exchange visits to officials. President Aoun also met Iranian President Masoud Bouchakkian, in the presence of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqji, Minister Raji and members of the Lebanese delegation. At the beginning of the meeting, the Iranian President expressed his happiness at meeting President Aoun, who in turn thanked him for the meeting, and he renewed the assertion that Lebanon wants Iran to be a friend of all Lebanese and not for one category, repeating what he mentioned to the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iranian National Security, Ali Larijani, who recently visited Beirut, about ensuring that communication between Iran and Lebanon is comprehensive and not limited to one category. He said that Lebanon is looking forward to good relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran based on void respect, frankness, and not to interfere in the internal affairs of others, and to preserve common interests. President Aoun expressed his adherence to these principles that link Lebanon to friendly countries. The President replied with a supporter, and called for the relations based on respect and mutual cooperation and the preservation of the unity and integrity of the lands of each country, and he said that these principles are at the heart of our policy in Iran and their roots derived from the teachings of the prophets, messengers and heavenly religions, and if these principles are adhered to, there should be no dispute between the two countries. The Iranian President agreed with the Lebanese President that countries should not interfere in the affairs of some of them, but rather to cooperate and work to advise and exchange opinion in what could be beneficial to them, stressing Iran’s positive interaction with the proposals that would preserve the sovereignty of friendly countries. President Aoun met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in the presence of Minister Raji and members of the Lebanese delegation, and the course of implementing the agreement that was between them was discussed during President Abbas’s visit to Beirut to withdraw the Palestinian weapon from the camps, and President Abbas expressed his keenness to continue to work with this agreement in a way that achieves the interests of Lebanon and the Palestinians.
President Aoun thanked the Palestinian President for his efforts to implement the content of the agreement, and said that there are joint committees working to coordinate to withdraw weapons from the Palestinian camps in Lebanon.
