From Afghan prison .. The Taliban is releasing an American citizen

On Sunday, the Taliban launched an American citizen from Afghan prison, weeks after announcing an agreement with American envoys on the exchange of prisoners as part of efforts to normalize relations. The deputy spokesman for the Taliban Foreign Ministry, Diaa Ahmed Takal, defined the man as an Emiri prince. He did not mention when I was arrested, the reason for his detention, or his place.

An official familiar with the release process said that Emiri has been detained in Afghanistan since December 2024 and was on his way to the United States.
