“FIFA” decides his position on the proposal to increase the 2030 World Cup teams

FIFA decided its position on the idea of expanding the 2030 World Cup to include 64 teams instead of 48, stressing that the plan is not contained despite the recommendations of the South American Federation and some of its leaders.
The Guardian newspaper reported that FIFA listened to the proposal, but he believes that the establishment of 128 games in one version will harm the championship financially and sports, as it will lead to many non -competitive matches and weaken the attractiveness of the World Cup.
Sources within the federation indicated that President Gianni Infantino will not be able to pass this plan inside the FIFA Council, even if he wanted to do so, because rejection is in Europe and outside as well..
Nevertheless, Conmebol continues to press for expansion, as this will guarantee the participation of all ten South American teams in the tournament, instead of only six, with Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay’s willingness to host the first round matches.
The President of the Confusion, Alejandro Dominguez, wrote after his meeting with Infantino:.”
But many opposition voices, most notably from European Union President Alexander Chevren, who described the proposal as a “bad idea”, while the President of Conakakaf stressed that the plan was “inappropriate“.
Besides, FIFA is looking to expand the Club World Cup, amid increasing demands from European clubs to participate, with the possibility of organizing it every two years.
The next meeting of the FIFA Council is scheduled to be held next month, but the file of increasing the World Cup 2030 teams is not currently on the agenda..
On the other hand, the 2026 World Cup is approaching, as the group stage draw will be held on December 5.
