Ezz El -Din: Improving children’s nutrition starts from schools, legislation and community awareness

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Women and Children Committee, Deputy Dr. Anaya Ezz El -Din, held a coordination meeting with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) team in Lebanon, in the presence of the regional advisor for nutrition affairs at the organization, Mrs. Ashaima Grag, during which the food and nutritional reality was presented to children in Lebanon, based on the studies prepared by UNICEF in cooperation with the relevant ministries.
During the meeting, it was emphasized “the importance of developing the food environment in Lebanon, by updating national legislation and policies, in order to ensure the protection of children’s health and enhance their obtaining safe and feeding food.” The meeting also stressed “the necessity of making ministries and supervisory bodies in their role in following up what is presented in the markets, especially in school shops of manufactured foods that children may resort to as a result of poor food awareness and increased rates of rates Poverty.
