During 2025 .. Omani refineries achieve different growth in production

Omani refineries recorded a contrasting performance during the first seven months of 2025, according to the initial data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information, with a total growth of 1.6% until the end of July, driven by the high production of car fuel by a remarkable rate of 20%.
Ordinary car fuel (91): Production increased by 8.3% to 10.09 million barrels compared to 9.31 million barrels in the same period from 2024, and sales increased by 2% to 8.2 million barrels, while exports fell by 14.7% to 1.49 million barrels.
Excellent car fuel (95): Production increased by 4.7% to 7.81 million barrels, sales by 1.2% to 7.69 million barrels, while exports recorded significant growth by 50.8% to reach 863.8 thousand barrels.
Diesel (gas oil): Production increased by 3.3% to 19.38 million barrels, sales increased by 6% to 8.55 million barrels, while exports fell by 2.6% to 10.22 million barrels.
Aircraft fuel: witnessed a remarkable decline, as production decreased 14.2% to 5.89 million barrels, sales 6.1% to 2.22 million barrels, and exports 21.2% to 3.47 million barrels.
LNG: production decreased slightly by 0.3% to 4.36 million barrels, while sales increased by 22.4% to 2.25 million barrels, and exports decreased by 60.9% to 113.7 thousand barrels.
As for the petrochemical sector, it witnessed a varying growth:
Gasoline: Production increased by 2.6% to 102.4 thousand metric tons, while exports decreased by 0.8%.
Paraxillin: Production increased by 3.8% to 338 thousand metric tons, and exports increased by 17.7% to 366.1 thousand metric tons.
Polypropylene: The largest leap in production was achieved by 63.7% to reach 200.8 thousand metric tons, with sales decreased by 10.3% to 17.8 thousand metric tons, and exports increase by 58.9% to 148.9 thousand metric tons. These indicators show that the performance of the refining and petrochemical sector in the Sultanate of Oman was characterized by a clear contrast, as some products increased significantly like Excellent car fuel and polypropylene, while other products such as aircraft fuel and liquefied petroleum gas have registered a decline in exports and production, which reflects the dynamics of local and regional demand and the importance of enhancing the sector’s flexibility to meet the fluctuations of global markets.
