
The Minister of Public Health, Dr. Rakan Nasser Al -Din, in the representative of the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, inaugurated the work of the thirty -second international conference, organized by the Beirut Dental Syndicate on Beirut’s marine front. The conference coincides with the Diamond Jubilee of the Syndicate on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of its establishment, and continues until the fourth of October, combining more than 140 lectures from 20 Arab and Western countries, in parallel with a specialized scientific exhibition that includes more than 100 exhibitors.
The opening was attended by political, trade union and academic figures, including: Representative Qassem Hashem, representative of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Minister of Information Dr. Paul Morcos, Minister of Labor, Dr. Muhammad Haider, Representative Farid Al -Bustani, President of the Lebanese University, Professor Bassam Badran, Captain of Dentists in Beirut Professor Ronald Younis, Captain of Dentists in Tripoli, Dr. Nazim Hafar, and the dental colleges in the most prominent Lebanese universities, In addition to representatives of the International Federation of Dentistry and the French Association of Dentistry (ADF). Minister Nasser Al -Din gave a speech in the name of the President of the Republic, in which he emphasized that “the profession of dentistry is one of the main pillars in the health system, not only with its direct treatment for patients, but also through its preventive role, protection of public health and improving the quality of life.” The Lebanese dentists who continue their professional mission despite the difficult economic conditions, enhance their efforts in maintaining a high level of efficiency and morals. Nasser Al -Din pointed out that the Ministry of Health is working on a comprehensive reform workshop to enhance the citizen’s confidence in the health sector, and this workshop includes updating the licensing and monitoring systems, and the approval of a legislative environment that guarantees the rights of patients, as well as developing preventive oral health programs and integrating them into primary health care, including It is in line with global health orientations. As for the head of the dentists, Professor Ronald Younis, he confirmed that the conference provides space to see the latest scientific innovations and medical techniques, pointing to the continued cooperation with the French and International Federation of Dental Association, as well as the Arab Dental Union. Younis pointed to the union’s achievements during the past years, including strengthening the mutual fund and expanding health coverage, gradually raising the death grant to reach 50 thousand dollars, and adopting new plans to ensure the continuity of retirement. He also announced a project for medical tourism that will reinstall the Lebanon site on the global map. The opening was overwhelmed by welcome words to the Scientific and Organizational Committee, as well as musical paragraphs presented by the Higher National Institute of Music. In conclusion, honorary shields were presented to the President of the Republic, which was received by Minister Nasser Al -Din, in addition to honoring the current and former captains, with a short documentary film on the history of the Dental Syndicate.
