Aoun receives his Cypriot counterpart and calls for enhancing cooperation between Lebanon and the European Union

The President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, continued his series of meetings in the long day that he is spending at the United Nations headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the General Assembly.
President Aoun met Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and a discussion was made in bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to developments in the region in the light of recent events, especially the Israeli attacks that affected Lebanon, and also continuing the Gaza Strip. It was a discussion about the reasons that drive Israel to ignore the will of the international community to stop these aggressive practices. The research also touched on the topic of “UNIFIL” and the role it plays with the Lebanese army to restore stability to the south. The conversation dealt with the dimensions of the last Israeli attack on Qatar, and its repercussions on the region as a whole. The President of the Cypriot wished President Aoun to participate in these two occasions, given the benefits that Lebanon can harvest from these two occasions, and to enhance the relationship between him and the European countries. President Christodoulides also asked President Aoun to determine the projects that Lebanon wants to finance by the European Union in various fields, in order to work to allocate the appropriate credits to them, provided that the foreign minister in the two countries takes on these two countries to develop a plan of action for these Projects and their priority. President Aoun thanked his Cypriot counterpart for the two invitations, stressing his keenness to stay them, and appreciated the support of the European Union for Lebanon, expressing his appreciation for the permanent standing of Cyprus alongside Lebanon at various times, recalling the results of the talks that took place during the recent visit to Cyprus.
