The Israeli newspaper “Jerusalem Post” published a new report in which it spoke about the role of Iran at the level of Lebanon.
The report, translated by “Lebanon 24”, says that the Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council, Ali Larijani, visited Lebanon last week at a time when the tensions reached its climax between Iran and Lebanon, and added: “Larijani’s visit to Beirut coincided with Lebanon’s efforts to restore its sovereignty, which he actually lost in favor of Iran since the founding of Hezbollah in the 1980s. Tehran pays the price of a state within a country established by Hizbullah under Iranian sponsorship.
He continued: “For years, Lebanon was a clear sphere of influence for Iran, as Tehran took advantage of Beirut’s weakness, taking a fertile land of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards. But after the weakness of Hizbullah at the internal Lebanese level, after its defeat in front of Israel, the country is witnessing deep turmoil.”
He continued: “Lebanon has risen again, and its leaders, especially the President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, seek to establish a new political system that restricts Hezbollah, which they consider the basis of security, political, economic and social challenges facing Lebanon. In this context, the Lebanese government took a historic decision on August 5 to disarm Herz. Hezbollah, and leads this effort to Aoun, peace and Secretary of Foreign Affairs. Please, who boycotted Larijani’s visit. ”
He said: “Aoun and Salam expressed to Al -Arijani their deep anger at Tehran’s blatant interference in Lebanese internal affairs, and publicly transferred it through the Lebanese media. Likewise, the President stressed that Lebanon is determined to sovereignty, and protested the recent statements of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqji and Ali Akbari, the advisor of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, against the disarmament of Hizbullah.”
The report continues, “Salam has made it clear to Larijani that Lebanon does not need Hizbullah to force Israel to withdraw from the 5 sites in the south, unlike the Iranian claim, and stressed Lebanon’s commitment to implement its decision through its army, and removed Hizbullah by the end of 2025.”
The report believes that “Larijani’s statements after his meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri clarify that Iran will not easily abandon its strategic agent, but the Iranian official invalidated himself in practice.” He added: “While Tehran has intervened in Lebanon 43 years ago, he claimed that Iran did not provide a plan for Lebanon, but only the United States was the one who presented it, and urged the Lebanese to refuse the American intervention. Likewise, Larijani said that Iran did not. It interferes with the Lebanese decision, calling for Lebanon to cancel its plan to disarm, considering that the United States and Israel are seeking through political pressure to what they failed to achieve through the war.
The report continued: “In conjunction with the visit of Larijani, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Eyal Zamir, visited the sites of the Israeli army in southern Lebanon, while it was targeted by an element from Hizbullah near Bint Jbeil, which highlighted the strategic impasse faced by Lebanon. On the one hand, Israel is pursuing a stable strategy to prevent Hizbullah from rebuilding its ranks, and on the other hand, Iran maintains a great influence in Lebanon Through Hizbullah missile arsenal and supporting the vast majority of the Shiites in Lebanon. While Hizbullah supporters received Larijani in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Iranian reformist media revealed that the Lebanese political opponents of Hezbollah had recently thought about expelling the Iranian ambassador, but they withdrew after they realized that this step is impractical.
The report says that “the United States’s ambition to achieve quick results against Hizbullah may harm Lebanon.” He added: “With the great support of the Shiite community in Lebanon, Hizbullah made offers for strength in recent days, indicating clearly that he will not give up his weapon, which he considers essential to his existence.”
He continued: “Israel cannot be satisfied with preventing the rebuilding of Hizbullah; rather, it must also undermine its social base between the Shiites of Lebanon. There is a need for a long -term strategy, in which the United States is investing in establishing an alternative network for Hizbullah Code, and supports the anti -Lebanese Shiites.”
He concluded: “This approach can constitute a challenge to the huge infrastructure that Iran built in the form of Hezbollah, whose Shiite sect is its political power and human power. At the same time, in the short term, Israel and the United States should intensify economic pressure on Hizbullah to obstruct its ability to maintain its influence within the Shiite community, and in the ideal state, reduce its ability to pay. The salaries of its elements. ”
