A lecture in the town of Al -Qusayba under the slogan of enough disasters on the roads of Lebanon, which dealt with traffic safety



Under the patronage of the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al -Hajjar, and with the participation of the municipality of Al -Qusaybah and the Yazza General Safety Association, the district of Baabda was held in the town of Baabda, a lecture under the slogan: “Enough disasters on the roads of Lebanon”, which dealt with traffic safety and ways to prevent deadly shocks.
The meeting was attended by a number of official, medical, educational, and social figures, along with heads and members of the municipalities of Ras Al -Matn, Zumla, Arsoun, Qurtada, and members of the municipalities of Arabiya and Al -Dulaybah, and the church, and the advisor of Major General Ludnos, the General Directorate of State Security and a crowd of the people of the region and the interested. It will remain open to every humanitarian and national initiative that protects the human being and preserves his life. He stressed the continuation of cooperation with the Yazza Association for the good of society and the safety of its members. Then, Brigadier Abdo Khalil, the leader of the Mount Lebanon region and the representative of the Minister of Interior, delivered a speech that touched the conscience in which he stressed that Lebanon no longer tolerates more disasters on its roads, and that the security forces carry out their responsibilities with all seriousness and firmness. He affirmed that the Minister of the Interior considers improving traffic safety a comprehensive national priority, and a key factor in building trust between the state and the citizen. In turn, the president of the Yazid Association, Dr. Ziyad Aqel, presented a comprehensive presentation of the reality of traffic safety in Lebanon, noting that the countries of the civilized world managed to reduce the numbers of victims through strict laws and state solidarity with civil society. He emphasized that Lebanon is able to achieve positive change if the will is available and efforts are completed among all concerned. On his part, the head of the children’s department at Autell Dio University Hospital in Ashrafieh and the head of the Lebanese Authority for Child Rights, Dr. Bernard Jargha, spoke with a touching word in which he addressed the high price that children pay as a result of neglect. He pointed to the fatal risks caused by children sitting on the bosom of the driver, and from driving under the influence of alcohol and excessive speed. He added: “The most difficult thing that parents might face is to bury their children with an accident that can be avoided.” He concluded by stressing that the adoption of children’s chairs is mandatory in all countries of the world, and it must be applied in Lebanon without any exception. The human incision was strongly present through an impressive speech delivered by Rosette and Perla Geagea, where the attendees shared the pain of Rosett’s loss of her brother who died on September 1, 2024 and Perla for her Khalha in a tragic accident due to a motorcycle on a pavement in Jbeil. And they announced an initiative to produce a short educational film, in cooperation with the Yazza Association, using the voice of the late registered years before his death, to be a cry for the youth of Lebanon so that they do not lose their lives on the roads. At the end of the meeting, Brigadier Khalil in the name of the Minister of Interior Ahmed Al -Hajjar conveyed a clear message: “Enough disasters on the roads of Lebanon. And our people pay the price of recklessness. Your life is a trust in our necks, and we will work together, a state and a society, to stop this continuous bleeding. A person is the most expensive wealth, and any neglect or recklessness on the roads threatens the present and future of the country.
