A Lebanese -Syrian meeting in Damascus to discuss the files of the missing and the detainees



The media office of the Minister of Justice, Adel Nassar, issued the following statement:

“After the visit of an official delegation from the Syrian Arab Republic to Beirut and his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Mitri in his office, it was agreed to develop new mechanisms to enhance communication and coordination between the two countries. As a result, two specialized committees formed to follow the joint files, one in Lebanon and the other in Syria.
The two committees held their first meetings in Damascus, where sensitive security and judicial issues were discussed, foremost of which is the file of the Lebanese missing persons in Syrian prisons, and the file of the Syrian detainees in Lebanon.
The two parties agreed to hold the second meeting soon in Beirut, to follow up on discussions and complete what was reached in the first round.
