A joint workshop entitled Initial and preventive health care for guests in Zgharta prison



It was launched on 02-09-2025, in the courtyard of Zgharta Prison, a workshop entitled: “Primary and Protective Health Care for Guests”, at the invitation of the General Prison Guide in Lebanon-the provinces of the North and Akkar governorates, and in cooperation between the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces and the Battle Council and Catholic Bishops-the General Assembly of Prisons, and in coordination with the Organization of Malta-Lebanon / Center Social health in Khalidiya – Zgharta.
The workshop was opened in the presence of the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah, represented by the Commander of the Zgharta Company, Colonel Najib Al -Shami, and each of the Acting Governor of the North, the Qaum of Zgharta, Mrs. Iman Al -Rafii, Head of the General Guide for Prisons in Lebanon, Father Jean -Morah, the regional guide in the General Assembly of Prisons, Father Tony Fayyad Al -Lazri, President of the Malta Center in Zgharta Sister Grace Khoury, and a number of officers. This workshop aims to provide primary and preventive health care to guests, by conducting periodic medical and laboratory examinations, providing basic medicines, in addition to providing health and psychological consultations. The workshop also includes the security elements funded by the service of guests when necessary. This workshop is implemented on a weekly basis for a year, aimed at transferring them from disciplinary centers to rehabilitation centers, through rehabilitation programs that take into account the physical and psychological health of the inmates, and follow their cases during the arrest period, and after their release, to facilitate their reintegration into society. She stressed the importance of strengthening health care inside prisons, and the need to cooperate between official, religious and health authorities in order to safeguard the dignity of inmates and improve the conditions of their detention, in line with the principles of human rights and humanitarian standards. The General Guide of Prisons, and the Malta -Lebanon Organization – were also noted by the efforts made by the Internal Security Forces, in order to achieve this humanitarian and national goal. Members of the executive body of the General Assembly of Prisons in Lebanon, and members of the northern and Akkar provinces, were also participated in the meeting. Zgharta. In conclusion, a cocktail party was held by the way, and the meeting was sealed by taking memorial photos.
