The Lebanese Ministry of Justice launched, in partnership with the French Institute and Metropolis, the first activities of the series “Justice and Cinema”, in the presence of a large number of judges, lawyers, academics, university students and representatives of civil society. The program was opened with the screening of the movie “Les Risques du Métier” by André Kaytat and starring Jacques Braille, followed by a discussion on the concept of justice in Lebanon compared to French standards.
Justice Minister Adel Nassar participated in the dialogue, stressing that the aim of the program is to enhance the awareness of the citizens of the judge, as well as remind the judges with their heavy responsibilities. He explained that every judicial decision carries human risks and results, and that the judge must decide his issues based on the file only, away from any external pressures. He cited the lawyer of Paul Lombard and writer Albert Camus, stressing the need to separate the emotion from justice and that the judge must be silent before any external influence. An open dialogue links the world of cinema and justice and allows to participate for everyone.
