The Lebanese Poultry Syndicate, headed by William Peter, issued a statement in which it appealed to the officials to take the appropriate steps to protect the chicken factories threatened with an existential danger, as a result of preventing them from entering the Arab markets, in exchange for allowing similar Arab products to enter Lebanon without customs duties.
Peter said: “Most Arab countries prevent the entry of the Lebanese manufactured chicken into their markets to protect their similar products. Recently, the sisterly state of Iraq issued a decision to prevent after we were exporting these products to its market.” He added: “This is on the one hand, but on the other hand, Lebanon allows the import of chicken industries from different countries of the world, but the surprising thing is that these products imported from the Arab countries are exempt from the Arab countries And customs duties. It cannot compete in its internal market, and at the same time it is prevented from exporting its products to the Arab countries, which means its inevitable fall. Peter concluded the statement by confirming the “union’s confidence in the relevant ministries to protect and motivate the national economy, hoping to take the steps required quickly to preserve the sector and this promising industry.”
