The President of the Lebanese Republic, General Joseph Aoun, continues his activities and participation on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the international organization. During this visit, President Aoun focuses on strengthening bilateral relations with Arab and foreign countries, in addition to meeting a number of businessmen and representatives of the American Support Group for Lebanon (Task Force for Lebanon).
Yesterday, President Aoun met a number of officials in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Youssef Raji, the head of the permanent Lebanon mission to the United Nations Ahmed Arafa, and the director of media in the Presidency of the Republic Rafik Shalala.
The Red Cross meeting this framework, President Aoun, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, received Mrs. Miriana Spllaric, who thanked Lebanon for the valuable assistance he provides within the framework of the humanitarian tasks of the committee in Lebanon and a number of neighboring countries. Mrs. Spllaric presented the most important difficulties facing the committee, especially addressing the conditions of Lebanese prisoners in Israeli detention centers. She emphasized that she is working to organize multiple meetings to follow up on these issues and facilitate the end of the years of imprisoning some prisoners. The Czech President expressed his country’s follow -up to Lebanon’s developments, especially in the south and the issue of the displaced Syrians, stressing his country’s support for Lebanon. He also stressed that the Lebanese army is playing its full role in the south, and that the international community is required to pressure Israel to stop its attacks. The Czech President concluded the meeting with the invitation of President Aoun for an official visit to Prague, which President Aoun accepted and promised to meet her next year.
