A crisis that shakes the party’s media unit

The Hezbollah Media Relations Unit has been witnessing one of its most complex internal crises in years, as during the past weeks, sharp differences have been revealed between the wings of the media team, its roots date back to the martyrdom of the former office manager, Mohamed Afif, who was widely appreciated for good management and organization.
According to the information, the problems did not start with colleague Rana Al -Sahili in particular, but with the Afif team most of it, which was seen as a basic pillar in the media work. Since the assassination of Afif, the difficulties have accumulated, starting with the poor media follow -up and the absence of activities for journalists, to the complexities of communicating with the media unit, which opened the door for accusations between the old and new team about excluding some members and attempts to acquire basic sites.
The sources explain that the crisis has emerged more with Youssef Al -Zain responsible for the file to succeed Afif, as a weakness in the organizational structure appeared, which led to the assignment of Representative Ibrahim Al -Mousawi to directly supervise the team. But the move was not tense, as accusations remained mutual about failures and decline in performance.
In light of this atmosphere, Rana Al -Sahili was honored by a group of media professionals to make matters worse. Zain considered the move inappropriate for a time, while there seemed to be those who pushed towards giving the coast a broader role within the team. However, a silent conflict soon erupted, which ended in the decision to distribute its powers to several people.
Al -Sahili, who was known as the “dynamo” of the office and responsible for media relations with the local, Arab and foreign press, kept formally in its position but was stripped of its tasks, and refused to receive any new responsibilities, which made it practically outside the decision of the decision.
Some circles describe what is going on as a “male -fence” struggle, in light of the conviction of some leaders that women cannot take over an advanced position in the media management. But on the other hand, close to the coasts indicate that she faced repeated pressure and difficulties that burdened her role, to find herself in an unhealthy environment within the team.
The bottom line, according to the sources, that the state of weakness that afflicted the media apparatus opened the door to other parties to try to put the hand on the media scene and fill the void, which made the crisis exceed its organizational limits to turn into a battle of influence between multiple wings, at a time when the media is supposed to be a coherent front that reflects the party image.
