A secret campaign overthrew millions of accounts on “WhatsApp”!

In a move described as one of the widest digital -combat digital campaigns, the WhatsApp service, which is affiliated with the company “Meta”, announced that it had succeeded in banning about 6.8 million fake accounts during the first half of this year, before its owners were able to send any message.

The company pointed out that the vast majority of these accounts were established by criminal groups operating within the forced work camps in Southeast Asia, and targeting users with attractive offers related to fake jobs or fast -profit investments, especially in the field of encrypted currencies.

WhatsApp official, Claire Derevi, noted that some fraudsters resort to artificial intelligence tools, such as “Chat GBT”, to formulate the first messages used as a bureau to drag the victims towards other applications such as “Telegram”.

Davi added that some of the fraudulent operations were frustrated in cooperation with international bodies, including a process that took place in Cambodia with the participation of “Mita” and “Oben AI”, which reflects a joint move to counter the growing threats.

In a related context, “Mita” announced the launch of a new feature on “WhatsApp” that alerts users when they are added to groups that include unknown persons, and give them the option to leave the group directly without opening the conversation.

The step falls within an integrated strategy that aims to enhance the safety of users, at a time when artificial intelligence tools are used as a two -edged weapon: between those who fight electronic crime and who uses it to deceive millions of users around the world.
