Meeting workers in the public sector: The budget project exacerbates the suffering of workers in the country

In a statement, the national meeting in the public sector, in a statement, made a number of notes on the 2026 budget project.

In a statement, the meeting said: “We have monitored significant discounts or changes in the state’s contributions to salaries and wages for a number of public institutions and bodies, threatening the regularity of paying salaries and raising questions about the continuity of employment in basic sectors.”
He stated that “the project did not include any clear item to correct wages or a mechanism for compensation for inflation, which means the continued collapse of the purchasing power of public sector employees in light of the outrageous high cost.” He added: “Likewise, the absence of agreement between institutions was observed regarding the specialists of allowances and submission (such as health coverage and social assistance), as it increased in some parties and declined in another, which devotes discrimination between the workers in the same sector. General.
He continued: “This financial confusion opens the door to undeclared policies that practically lead to emptying the public sector from its human cadre and pushing it towards the fragile contract or privatization.”
He added: “Also, the budget project did not include any support for the reconstruction of the housing units destroyed by the Zionist, through the South Council or the Supreme Relief Commission, which will leave direct negative repercussions on citizens in general, and on the public sector workers in particular, who were lost in their homes and regions. The lowest of a decent living strikes the foundations of the public administration and weakens the presence of the state itself in the face of crises.
The meeting was mentioned by a series of demands:
1. Insert a fair corrective increase for salaries and wages and link them to the high cost of living. 2. Unifying social and health allowances across various official institutions to prevent the discrimination between employees. 3. Ensuring transparency in transfers and credits and clarifying any reduction or amendment before its approval. 4. Rejection of any implicit orientation towards privatization or reducing the public sector at the expense of employees and their rights. 5. Launching an immediate dialogue between the government and the trade union bodies to discuss workers’ observations before the final budget is approved. Allocating credits for the reconstruction of the affected housing units through the South Council and the Supreme Relief Authority, in order to protect the right of citizens to the decent housing and in support of the steadfastness of workers in the public sector.
The statement concluded: “The national meeting of workers in the public sector considers that the budget project in its current form constitutes a direct threat to the rights of employees, and warns that ignoring these observations will inevitably lead to more trade union and popular objections and movements.”
