In a statement, the head of the Lebanese Federation of Trade Unions and users refused to “integrate Syrian students into Lebanese public schools, under the pretext of organizing education, which threatens the collapse of the remaining national educational system.”
He believed that “the mere thinking about imposing the Lebanese curriculum on the Syrian students is an actual participation in the process of convincing educational resettlement, these children lose their right to return to their natural educational system, and put them in a educational path that does not have a link to their identity. It is an educational crime described against them, committed in the name of integration and fairness, while the truth is that it is a silent preparation for full resettlement. As for the second crime, it is the second crime. Lebanese students who are thrown into crowded classes, without a common language, nor a unified approach, nor a sound educational environment.
He said: “We will not accept that education is used as a political tool or as a cover for undeclared resettlement. We will not accept that our children will be sacrificed under false slogans.
He concluded: “We ask the Prime Minister and the relevant ministers, and every responsible party, to refuse to teach the displaced Syrians in public schools categorically. And we announce that, as a trade union, the Executive Council made a decision to support and participate in all the moves and activities of the national campaign to restore the displaced Syrians to stop this farce, and we will not hesitate to escalate if this approach continues.”
