Russian emergency services reported today, Sunday, that at least one person was killed in an explosion inside the building of the Children’s Central Store, one of the most prominent shopping centers in the Russian capital, Moscow, and is located in Lopeanka Square. The Russian RIA Novosti agency, the accident was caused by a gas cylinder explosion on the third floor of the building.
For its part, the Moscow Health Department announced the transfer of two injured persons to the hospital for treatment, while the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobianin indicated that the explosion is likely to be caused by a technical defect in the equipment. After the explosion, the authorities rushed to evacuate the entire building, while the Russian investigation committee began opening an official investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
