On Wednesday, a humanitarian convoy of the World Food Program was attacked near the city of Melt, which is suffering from famine in North Darfur, Sudan. The spokesman for the UN agency Gift Watanathorne said that “three between 16 trucks within a convoy carrying life -saving foodstuffs” in which the fire caught and was damaged, confirming the safety of humanitarian crews.


For its part, the Rapid Support Forces, in a statement, accused the army by targeting the convoy while it was inside the Customs of Melt Customs, and indicated that the shelling included the city of Melt and the customs point, and resulted in dozens of civilian dead and wounded. The Rapid Support Forces described what happened as a “war crime”, indicating that the incident is not the first of its kind, as the army had previously targeted on the third of last June, relief trucks in the city of Al -Kuma. It called on the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to condemn the bombing, and to open an investigation to hold those responsible for targeting relief convoys, and the immediate pressure to stop the army’s attacks on the humanitarian workers.
