Touch has begun the practical steps to deploy the fifth generation (5G) network in Lebanon in coordination with the Ministry of Communications, as it announced the official launch of the project in conjunction with the arrival of the first shipment of stations and technical equipment to Beirut.

During the first executive meeting of the project, the company’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Karim Salim Salam, announced the start of operation of 15 Almaa 5G sites before the end of this month in vital points in the capital, followed by the operation of 60 additional sites until next November, to include Beirut, the vicinity of the airport, the Greater Suburb, Keserwan, Jbeil, Batroun, Tripoli, and Zahle, in preparation for expansion to the rest of the governorates, especially southern Lebanon.

The company indicated that 5G services will be available automatically to subscribers with compatible devices within the coverage areas without any additional costs or fees. This project is also accompanied by a parallel plan to develop infrastructure, which includes upgrading 75 sites for 4.5G technology, and building 75 new sites in remote and rural areas before the end of this year to ensure the quality of communications and fill coverage gaps.
