The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, discussed with the Director General of Public Security, Major General Hassan Shuqair, during a meeting held this evening, the security conditions in the country, in addition to the progress of work in the General Directorate of Public Security and the services provided to citizens.
Al-Hajjar briefed Choucair on the procedures adopted to develop services and facilitate the completion of citizens’ transactions, within the framework of the plan to improve administrative performance and simplify procedures.
The meeting also discussed the biometric fingerprint service for Lebanese expatriates, which has been implemented in the State of Kuwait, and will be gradually rolled out to Lebanese embassies and consulates in various countries of the world during the coming weeks and months.
The launch of the biometric fingerprint service for expatriates comes within the General Security plan to modernize consular services and facilitate the completion of transactions for Lebanese residing abroad, especially those related to the issuance and renewal of passports and official documents. It is expected that circulating this service to Lebanese diplomatic missions will contribute to reducing time and effort for expatriates, and alleviating the need to travel to Lebanon to complete some transactions, as part of the state’s efforts to develop its digital and administrative services.
