England captain, Harry Kane, surpassed Brazilian legend Pele in the ranking of all-time World Cup scorers, after he led his country to a difficult victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup, currently being held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Kane scored a late brace in just 11 minutes, saving the Three Lions from early exit, securing a ticket to the round of 16, where they will face Mexico.
With this achievement, Kane raised his tally to 13 goals in the history of his participation in the World Cup, including 5 goals in the current edition, ahead of Pele, who scored 12 goals during three participations with the Brazilian national team.
Argentine Lionel Messi continues to top the list of all-time World Cup scorers with 19 goals, followed by Frenchman Kylian Mbappe with 18 goals, and then German Miroslav Klose with 16 goals. (Arabic)
