The “Reset Suggested Content” feature is available within the platform settings, in the “Content Preferences” section, where it affects the content that appears on the home page, the browsing page, and the “Reels” section, without including ads or accounts that the user follows, according to what Instagram explained.
The platform gives users the ability to filter accounts that publish content they are no longer interested in before resetting the algorithm, and also allows them to choose the areas in which they want to reduce the ads associated with them.
After implementing the reset process, the algorithm redefines the user’s interests based on the content he interacts with or shares, with the possibility of directing this process through the three-point menu on the browsing page, by choosing “interested” or “not interested” for each post.
Instagram also provides the option to display posts outside of the algorithm order, through the “Following” and “Favorites” tabs.
It is noteworthy that Meta Platforms, which owns the Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp platforms, had announced in November 2024 the start of testing the content reset feature, in preparation for its gradual launch.
