Despite significant improvements in design and durability, many foldable phone users still report a host of recurring issues that impact their daily experience with these devices.
Screen malfunctions
The internal screen is the most problematic part of the phone. Some users reported the appearance of cracks or malfunctions in the screen even without the phone being exposed to a direct fall, while others indicated the appearance of dead spots or lines along the fold area after a period of use not exceeding one or two years.
Joint problems
The problems are not limited to the screen only, as some users reported problems with the hinge that allows the phone to be folded and unfolded. In some cases, the phone no longer opens completely flat due to dust or dirt accumulating inside the hinge.
Shorter lifespan
Experiences among users indicate that foldable phones may not last as long as traditional smartphones.
While regular phones can last for four to five years, many users find that foldable phones often only offer stable performance for two to three years before needing repairs or replacement.
This is due to the presence of moving parts such as the hinge and folding screen, which are more susceptible to damage compared to traditional glass screens. (Erm News)
