Vance, US President’s Senior Advisor Jared Kushner, and US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, made a joint phone call with the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, on the sidelines of the Lake Lucerne summit.
According to the Qatari Foreign Ministry, during the call, the political and diplomatic efforts aimed at strengthening commitment to the ceasefire in Lebanon were reviewed, in light of the momentum created by the memorandum of understanding signed between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The call also discussed ways to build on this path in a way that contributes to supporting regional security and stability, in light of the continuation of communications aimed at stabilizing the calm and preventing the return of escalation.
During the call, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani affirmed the State of Qatar’s support for regional and international efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in the region, reiterating Doha’s firm position towards Lebanon and its territorial integrity.
